Seems the historians were right after all. The Shroud of Turin really did exist prior to its supposed 14th Century revelation as a cunningly painted hoax (a claim never verified at the time) and thus it can’t be as young as the C-14 date derived for it from one sampling area. Seems that the sample area was actually a late Medieval patch, invisibly rewoven into the Shroud to repair some old damage.
